Warhammer played on new Macbook 2008

Obsessable and Wardojo blogs have recently visited the question of “can I play Warhammer on a MacBook? You can read the full article here. This is a question I have pondered a lot myself. With the ability to use Bootcamp to run windows, MAC users can now use windows-based software. The only limitations seem to be hardware rather than software compatibility. So does the new Macbook and Macbook Pro have enough horsepower to play WAR?

Apple has recently released this statement

“Leopard is the world’s most advanced operating system. So advanced, it even lets you run Windows if there’s a PC application you need to use. Just get a copy of Windows and start up Boot Camp, now included with Leopard. Setup is simple and straightforward — just as you’d expect with a Mac.”

The new MacBooks consist of the new Nvidia cards and a new Intel Chip… “these new graphics cards combined with OS X’s Boot Camp, which allows you to install Windows XP or Vista on a separate partition on your Mac’s hard drive, allow Mac owners to install all the PC games they want on that partition. The big question is: can the MacBook really handle the graphics required by graphic-intensive games built for PC gaming machines?”

Enough about the Macbook! Can this thing realy RUN WAR? The guys over at Obsessable.com decided to install Warhammer Online on their new MacBook 2008:

“We installed Windows XP Professional on a 32GB partition on our new 2.4Ghz Intel Core 2 Duo powered MacBook with 2GBs of RAM. Then, we installed Warhammer Online Age of Reckoning, a MMPORG (Massively Multiplayer Online Role-playing Game), that was released in September and has some very impressive graphics. We hit one snag in installation when the installer told us that there were not adequate permissions to continue, however, navigating to the Program folder in Windows and creating a new game folder to install into fixed the problem.”
